TALI'ZORAH VAS NORMANDY Age: 25 Gender: Female Nicknames: Tali Sexuality: Heterosexual Race: Quarian Occupation: Admiral of the Quarian flotilla Faction or allegiance: admiral of the quarian flotilla/ The Normandy Moral alignment: Paragon
APPEARANCE HEIGHT: 5'6 WEIGHT: 166 EYE COLOR: Blue and glowing HAIR COLOR: Very dark brunette OTHER: Quarian-y?
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: There are various parts to Tali's personality. First that is shown, is the tough, outer core. Despite being very young, Tali has seen and lived through quite a bit, and her actions show that. She can definitely handle herself in that regard. However, at times, her view on life and what happens in it can be extremely simplistic, as if a child were looking at it from a black and white perspective. Along with that is a stubborn streak, as Tali in many things is firmly set in her ways, and it can be very hard to change her from that. An example is how long it takes for her to trust Legion, with the thought in her mind already that the geth are all bad.
Despite being able to handle herself, Tali is normally more diplomatic in her approach to things. As she comments on plenty of times, there are so few quarians that they stick together. Along with having prejudice against them, in her time away from the flotilla, Tali has realized even more what a negative attitude the other races have toward her people. With all that prejudice against her, Tali has learned how to curb any extreme emotions in that regard, and usually doesn't retaliate for those that are ignorant. Still, push her too far, or call her ma'am one too many times, and she'll take you down, as her ability to curb her tongue only goes so far.
And too, is a side to her that has quite the tongue. Around friends Tali can joke without a problem, and enters into quite a bit of banter with Garrus and the other more open members of the team. To people she doesn't care for, she can also rely on a few quips to get across what she does not with open violence.
With age and more responsibility, also came one that thinks deeply about situations. Deep inside Tali, is a woman that is unsure of her ability to do the right thing, and she often questions her own actions, wondering what the right thing to do is. She feels deeply about her own people and her concern is for them.
But of course, inside Tali is a teenage girl just wanting to get out. Being a very young woman still, at times Tali cannot quite help but show a burst of her childish side. This is especially shown whenever she's nervous, as she begins to talk faster and faster about anything and everything that she can think of on the spot, usually making absolutely no sense when she does. This is a defense mechanism that she's learned over her lifetime, as people cannot see her behind her mask and it's the way that she can portray to others any of her feelings that she otherwise could not.
HISTORY History: Life for Tali started out nearly as all quarian children - in the Migrant Fleet of the quarians, on a ship named the Rayya - one of the Migrant Fleet's three liveships. Despite not remembering much about early life, Tali can definitely remember one thing. The bubble. Obviously quarian children cannot be in suits as babies, so she still has nightmares memories of life within her small bubble to keep the infections away. And keeping infections away is totally awesome, but you can't keep a kid cramped up forever! Or bubble-ified forever. And though Tali doesn't often talk about her entrapment in the 'bubble of doom', she would much rather a suit than that.
And soon enough, was her ability to fly free escape said bubble of doom. As soon as she could be fitted with a suit, that was done by her parents, and Tali was free to go about life as a normal quarian child. To make it different for her, however, was her father's status. It did make life easier in certain areas, obviously, but in others, Tali mentions that it was much more challenging. Along with that, was the fact that her father always treated her distantly and somewhat coldly. Her mother helped to counter that in early life, and Tali held her mother in very esteemed gaze, though she also tried to get her daughter to see the reason for her fathers colder behavior. However, her mother died five years before she reached her maturity, due to an airborne virus.
When Tali had reached maturity, she, like all other quarians, left the Rayya to embark on her pilgrimage, a rite of passage to prove her worth and bring something of value back to her people aboard the Migrant Fleet. On that pilgrimage however, Tali started to hear reports of geth beyond the veil since they had exiled her people. Tali tracked a patrol geth to an uncharted planet. She there waited until one of them got away from the others so that she could disable it and with quick fingers, a lot of skill, and a little luck, was able to get back it's memory core. From that core she was able to salvage an audio portion that showed that Saren was indeed behind the attack on Eden Prime after the beacon.
Unfortunately for her, that put her in a lot of danger, and she was chased by Saren's forces. Still, she escaped to the Citadel. Despite escaping, she did not remain unharmed, and had gotten shot in her fleeing. Once on the Citadel, she sought help from the medical ward and a doctor named Chloe Michel. She told that doctor she wanted to trade some information to the shadow broker to get a place for hiding, but Fist - working for Saren - double crossed her. So once more Tali found herself in a bad situation when a messenger and a group of assassins showed up instead. Realizing she was in jeopardy, Tali slapped away the advance that the messenger tried to show and threw a tech proximity mine down to escape. Instead, Commander Shepard showed up with his team and helped aid her by killing the assassins.
Thankful for her life being spared, Tali showed to Udina and Anderson her vocal proof that Saren was involved in the Eden Prime incident, as well as the return of the 'Reapers'. Later on she shows the same proof to the council and allows Shepard to make his point to them. Wanting to prove herself against the geth (and because her culture) Tali joins Shepard's team.
During that journey, whenever she's on the Normandy and not a part of Shepard's crew on the missions to stop Saren, Tali can be found in the engine rooms. Engineer Adams greatly appreciates her and wishes his crew were half as smart, and so they often worked together during that time disassembling any abandoned technology that were found. During her time on that ship Tali at first is very excited, but then gets homesick because of how quiet the ship is, instead of bustling like it is in the flotilla.
Their adventures through that time were most exciting to Tali, though also received with sadness, as she sees the similarities between the Protheans and her own race, who were exiled and driven away from their home planet. One thing she can say from this time, is that she will never again trust the driving of Shepard. The mako, otherwise known as the 'Six Wheeled Death Trap' to her, has given her plenty of horrifying memories that she would rather forget. And will she ever trust Shep to drive? Well...Garrus, you've got the driving, right?
After their saving the Citadel and the 'first round' of the Reaper attack, and the destruction of the Normandy Tali left once more to complete her pilgrimage, which she did. After she completed her pilgrimage, she joined a ship called the Neema and became a respected member on that ship, making her name Tali'Zorah vas Neema on her time there. She also obtained a new suit that showed that she had become a mature quarian.
Tali led a mission to find a missing quarian named Veetor'Nara on a human colony of Freedom's Progress, since this quarian had been helping the colony as a part of his pilgrimage. When she went, she found it oddly deserted, but the security mechs were still on. Along the way she ran into Commander Shepard with Jacob and Miranda, which is a shock since she thought he was long dead after the attack of the Normandy.
At first, Tali was extremely pleased to see Shepard alive. Unfortunately, that dampened a little bit when she realized that he was working for Cerberus, an organization that is against aliens and was involved in a recent sabotage against the flotilla. She worked against her feelings there by hoping Shepard is secretly working to take the company down from the inside, though she couldn't be sure. Still, because he asked about the data he gave to her, Tali knows that it's still Shepard.
They find Veetor, and find evidence that the collectors are behind the colony's disappearance. Shepard decided to give her the traumatized quarian, and they part ways for her to go back to the flotilla, where she had a mission that she could not tell him about.
This mission is, in fact, on the planet Haestrom to gather data on the planet's prematurely dying sun. As Haestrom is deep in geth territory, Tali travels with a contingent of quarian marines, including Kal'Reegar, for protection. Unfortunately, a geth patrol ship sights the quarians and begins dropping troops; the quarian marines are killed and Tali is trapped inside a building with the data she has gathered. Fortunately she is contacted by Shepard, who came to Haestrom in the hope of recruiting her.
After fighting their way through the geth, meeting Kal'Reegar, and destroying a powerful Geth Colossus, Shepard's team manages to rescue Tali, who agrees to join Shepard's cause. She explains that the data she has gathered on Haestrom's sun proves it is dying too quickly, possibly (as is elaborated later) due to dark energy affecting the mass of the star. Despondent over the deaths of her friends during the mission, Tali angrily hopes that the Admiralty Board will put this information to good use, and make it worth such a terrible cost.
Aboard the Normandy SR-2, Jacob welcomes Tali warmly, but she dismisses him, reiterating her skepticism towards Cerberus' intentions. She makes it clear that she is joining the mission for Shepard's sake, not Cerberus'; if Shepard dealt with Cerberus experiments back in 2183, Tali reminds the Commander that Cerberus thought that enslaving Thorian Creepers and rachni was a good idea. In parting, Tali is even more disturbed to hear that the new Normandy has an AI.
Later on, after some time aboard the Normandy, Tali receives a disturbing message from home. Tali asks to be taken to the Flotilla to discover what the charges are, and plead her innocence. She informs Shepard that the Admiralty Board has charged her with treason for what happened above the Alarai.
It was after that, that they go to the Alarai, a research ship that her father had been on, to figure out really what happened, and to prove her innocence. Previously, her father had asked her to send him geth parts, which she did thinking that he was using them to be able to better understand the geth and help reclaim their home planet. However, once they actually went there, they find the body of her father on the ship. Recorded is a message for Tali, showing that he was doing some bad things with the parts she had sent him, and she reacts with an outburst, which Shep calms by giving her a hug. After she looks at the recording, Tali comments she doesn't know which was worse, thinking he didn't care the whole time, or that he cared and was trying to protect her.
Once she figures out, she begs Shepard to not reveal the actions of her father, as that would taint his name and wipe him from all he did on the ships, labeling him as a monster. Shepard agreed and did not reveal the information, but also persuaded the Admiralty board that she was innocent. During the events of the mission, it is revealed that the admiralty board has decided to change Tali's title to Tali'Zorah vas Normandy, which she keeps.
This time, Tali, though still dealing with the geth, stays in Shepsard's crew as they're battling a new problem - the collectors. She stays on the Normandy as they take down this new threat by finally hitting them in galactic core at their space station. What did she learn from her second time on the Normandy? Still don't trust Shepard to drive anything - and good riddance to the Six Wheeled Death Trap.
Following that, Tali returns to the quarian fleet following Shepard's return to the Alliance. Due to her expertise with the geth, the Admiralty Board requests Tali's assistance in their campaign to retake Rannoch.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES MAJOR SKILLS: - Combat drone - Tali, as an engineer class has this tech ability. Tali can spawn combat drones to her aid, which can draw attacks from enemies and can electronically stun targets while it destroys their shields.
- AI Hacking - Yet another tech power of Tali's is the ability to hack into AI systems. Though she needs their shields down to do so, her intelligent mind and quick fingers make it easy for her to take control of these situations given the chance.
- Quarian Machinist -
- Decryption - The talent allows the unlocking of sealed doors and containers.
- Damping - Damping increases the explosion radius on your tech proximity mines, and shuts down enemy tech and biotic abilities. This makes it a useful defensive talent when facing large groups of enemies or strong biotics like asari commandos. In conjunction with Sabotage, Damping can render most enemies virtually helpless, giving you a prime opportunity to use your shotgun or hit them with grenades.
- Electronics - Electronics can allow you to repair or bypass objects. Electronics increases the strength of your shields and the amount of hull restored when you repair the Mako. This talent grants the Overload ability, which damages enemies and shuts down their shields.
- Energy Drain - Energy Drain saps enemies' kinetic barrier power to boost your shields. Like Overload, this ability will do double damage to shields.
- Shotguns
- Pistols
WEAPONS, ARMOR AND BELONGINGS WEAPONS: - Katana - A powerful shotgun that Tali keeps with her. It's a very up close and personal way to destroy things.
- Carnifex Hand Cannon - Highly accurate and lethal sidearm. Effective against armor; weak against shields and biotic barriers.
ARMOR: Environmental suit - Tali's armor is actually a suit that she needs to keep on her at all times. It has a few special features. BELONGINGS: General recordings used for blackmail - You didn't think with the ability to record things from inside her mask, that she wouldn't keep a few on hand, did you? Sometimes your inner teenage girl comes out, and for that reason, Tali can't help but keep most of what she hears recorded in case she needs to use it in the future.
