COULSON PIKE
Age: 33 Gender: Male Nicknames: Cole; Dr. Pike; Operative Pike Sexuality: Heterosexual Race:Human Occupation: Head of Xeno Sciences Faction or allegiance: Cerberus Moral alignment: Renegade
APPEARANCE
HEIGHT: 5'11" WEIGHT: 177 lbs EYE COLOR: Green HAIR COLOR: Rich brown OTHER: He has a few noteworthy lab scars on his arms and a few on his body, but none worth mentioning in conversation.
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Cole is an eccentric scientist with quite a suave personality and enough eagerness and energy to knock a space station out of orbit. Obviously, he plays it quite cool, being a high-ranking scientist and medical professional running one of Cerberus' most important future-focused projects, and he's quite a good administrator and businessman at his core. Really, though, Cole thoroughly enjoys his work and loves to tinker with and talk about anything involving alien genetics and their inferiority to human genetics. He's got not a shy bone in his body, and he's forceful in about a dozen different ways, including how he fights and how he interacts with even his closest colleagues. While loyal to the Illusive Man, he does have moments where his ego as a top scientist gets to the best of him and he believes he doesn't need orders. In the end, though, he just does what benefits him, and that's typically remaining subordinate to Cerberus higher-ups. Given that he has no shy bone in his body, he knows no one that he won't strike up a conversation with and proceed to talk for an hour about things they don't understand. He's also quite a ladies' man, prone to long attempts at female "conquests" around the Cerberus offices that occasionally succeed and occasionally fail, but that are always entertaining. He's quiet deceitful, though, so attempting to befriend him only to have him walk all over the befriender is a common occurrence. As said, he's looking out and promoting number one in the end, and he prefers it that way. Obviously, working for a Cerberus department that's focused on seeing aliens done away with and only their best features kept for humanity to utilize makes him quite an unsavory individual in the morality department. Cole almost gets an entertainment out of seeing just how far he can push to get the most out of his experiments, whatever happens to the test subjects, and he's willing to do whatever Cerberus asks him to do in setting up his tests and experiments. While he believes what he's doing is beyond right, he's certainly going about it in the worst way possible and is fooling himself.
HISTORY History: Coulson's youth back on earth, in the northwestern part of the United States, likely would have been uneventful, with him having common schooling, until the First Contact War took place. When it did, everyone's life back on earth changed considerably. The Prothean ruins discovered that allowed for FTL space travel had a greater influence on life on earth than anyone had ever seen, and as such, Cole was sent by his reasonably well-off parents to a school chartered by earth's new space-oriented science programs that would see him living in a boarding school until he was sixteen years old - his graduation came two years early. His successes provided him a certain level of narcissism, but he worked hard in university, studying xenoscience to better understand the aliens that humanity had discovered in space and were now learning to cooperate with. Cole continued on with his interest for several years of schooling, before a certain professor he had his last year of study swayed him slightly in his views. His work had always had a military idea behind it - humankind needed to know what made these aliens tick and what their weaknesses were, should the worst happen - but this professor slowly convinced him and his fellow students that humanity would always be the superior race, despite the grandeur of these alien species. Cole had such an admiration for the professor and her work that he began to buy into the entire idea of science as a means to ensure humans remained a superior race among the stars. By his graduation, Cole accepted her offer that he join a new, secretive organization known as Cerberus and became one of their operatives. Cole started at the bottom of the totem pole, tampering with human DNA in a solitary lab with a few other fresh recruits. A couple of years of failures and occasional orders from above did not discourage him, however. Studying the human biotics that had been appearing since the dawn of space travel, Cole discovered a way to more easily focus Element Zero into human bodies to create biotic gifts after studying the biologies of aliens. After a time of working on his project, he attempted the process on himself, thus making himself the first of the dragoons that Cerberus had to offer. His process took off, and he was promoted to head of biotic research for a Cerberus cell. Fortunately, despite his successes, the Illusive Man realized that his talents were wasted simply working on biotics given that he had created the process through his work on alien biology. He was transferred over to a new project - a considerably more sinister one - and granted an almost unlimited budget and his pick of Cerberus' scientists and facilities to work on it. Cerberus had set their long-term plan for doing away with alien strength in the galaxy, and Cole had been selected to lead the plan. He's been in the position for several months now.
